Some law enforcement were in the crowd…not as agents, but participants. Off duty cops used their badges to get past some security it has been found. Also current, and former law enforcement have been identified as having been in the Senate chambers during the riot. 

Members of Congress report having witnessed Capitol police offices assisting insurgents. Giving directions even opening doors for them. There is phone video footage for some of this. The investigation of this disaster is going to be messy ugly. 

The insurgents had no fear of consequences because they were certain they’d win. The President of the United States of America a whole political party a major TV network, and they found more than a few Capitol security were with them. 

If you read their sites they view this as a victory. It’s why they’re coming for Biden, and Harris leading up to, and during the Inauguration.
