This so reminds me of the
Drama and Literature office of the station I was with.
This about 1982. Well, '78 through about 1985.
We had us a fucking ball.
We were young bleeping talented
on the damned radio and had a swell fucking time!
The office was open 24/7/365.
We were always working on something.
The political office. The Public Affairs department.
These were puritanical Stalinists.
The fuckers didn't even like each other.
They kept their door locked.
They fantasized they rated the FBI CIA and the Mossad
spying on them. As if they mattered.
I mean literally.
I swear...Nazi commies.
40 years later the bad element as they called us.
We called ourselves the Bad Elephants.
Hippie Queer Dyke Anarchist dopers.
We still know and love each other.
Them commie guys were never friends.
Merely allies in da cause.
We all for better or worse chose our paths.
On the Coast, Drama and Lit went away a long time ago. It used to be great. But when they were supposed to be celebrating their 50th anniversary, instead they had a purge. The commies took over and the last traces of art and imagination were scoured away, and now everyone there wears blue dungarees like in Maoist posters.
ReplyDeleteRemember Admiral "It's a trap" Ackbar in Return of the Jedi? That was the voice of Erik Bauersfeld. He was in the Drama and Literature Department. I loved his performances. But the people who run the place now might well soon be worshiping the Goddess of Reason or the Pontiff of Science while beheading tens of thousands of people.

Same happened here. They abolished D&L aka Drama and Lit or Drugs and Liquor. They also got rid of the Womans and Gay Departments. They were folded into Public Affairs.

Btw about the time I was forcibly retired for being a race traitor. They held an all-day celebration of Robert Mugabe's birthday. Zimbabwe's President for life who murdered up to 50,000 people from rival tribes. He also gave his country via kleptocracy the highest inflation rate literally in history. Did I mention he proposed the death penalty for Queers? He was their sort of chap.
That summed up the place.
A tragic death of a once noble institution.
