As the near death experience of the republic flashes by. I think of the subway. The 14th St. IRT Lex Ave. Eastside #'s 4, and 6 lines station. Coldest in the whole bleeping system in winter.
Snow drifts down from the vents. The Hottest in summer. Clocked at 120f~48c on the platform.
That, and of course you're stuck there in both seasons because of signal problems. We use the same signal equipment that was installed in 1958. The MTA workers still call it the "new" equipment.
Thanks to COVID, and our Civil War I actually miss all that.
In a whole year I've taken 4 trips down there. It should be in the hundreds. This shit is so bad I actually miss the NYC subway.
