With all this time besides trashy novels, and bad science fiction. I've been reading materials from across no person's land. I've been reading the conservative press. I do wonder about them. The more traditional varieties are beginning to get edgy about 45.
Some even leaving the party...a very few.
This for #45's irrationalities not his polices. They're uniformly behind the Border thing, and semi-auto guns for all. #45 for them would for the left be as if Abbie Hoffman, Google him, were elected in the late 60's. Profoundly unpredictable personality, but with polices liberals would generally like.
So they'd look the other way when he went nuts as conservatives do now with #45. Though Abbie was highly educated an author,...kinda, and had a heart. He wouldn't have been overtly cruel like #45. ...weird, but not self-centered, and cruel.
Hey I'm trying to be rational about it all.
Believe it or not we're all human beings, and Americans. However with profoundly different dreams. All fueled by our better natures,...tho' too often not.
Also there's been considerable revisionism among rational conservatives regards Blacks. It's noticeable. Apparently there are now 'good' Blacks. As opposed to "Welfare Queens" which they still believe in. They've been trying to re-brand MLK as a Christian Conservative. I find this, and portions of the GOP painting themselves as the original friends of the Civil Rights Movement as,...interesting.
Btw they are right when they say the Dems were mostly against us.
They just omit they were worse. I was there I remember. They were literally the blood enemies of everything the Movement tried to do. ...as were Southern, and Mid-western white Dems.
We had few friends.
Liberal Jews at the time being one.
An advantage of being an elder is that you were there, and have subjective memories what really happened. ...not it seems that anyone cares.
Speaking of memories here's one.
My folks were in the movement when I was little. One of my memories of the Civil Rights Movement was the smell of mimeograph ink. This as leaflets were being printed in the basement of Saint Gregory's Catholic Church, see above, in my old 'hood. Yeah Catholics were doing the right thing back then.
...Imagine.
