"Two Guys in 1909"

So in 60 years we send these guys to the Moon. They get there, and there ain't shit but dust, and rocks.
Heck I could have told them that. After this we just send robots,...long story."

  1. The problem with manned Moon landings is that, once you've taken a few photos and ascertained a handful of scientific facts, they have absolutely no practical value whatsoever. The whole project is simply a fantastically expensive assertion of grandeur. It was fine while it lasted, but scientifically speaking probes are a much better investment.

  2. For now yes.
The robotic survey of the system is going very well. If it were personed many would have died. Planetary manned or personed exploration is very expensive, and near suicidal at this time.

    Eventually yes.
Better propulsion better radiation protection deal with the artificial gravity stuff, and better more robust ships will come in time.

Then the system will open to humanity.

All this is a long term,...very long term centuries millennia's long project. We are a space faring species now...small steps.

It will wax, and wane, but not stop.
Like shipping the seas this is just what we do now.
