"...Bourbon"

Bob da Bunny in Burning Bangkok negotiates with the Korean Boy Band Mafia.
This for the recipe for Eggnog Curry Bourbon.
We need that shit to get us through the Lockdowns.
Sez Bob, "...Them maniac kids drives a hard bargain."

"...remember see, and live"

This morning I had a memory. My dreams thanks to the meds are vivid. I remember see, and live things. This time something my mother told us when we were little.

This from during WW2.

The Western Union boy, and then it was boys. They'd bike onto the block, and everyone knew what this meant. People would watch to see where he'd stop praying it wasn't their house. The kid would go to a door.
Then there'd be crying, and such. This as news that a son brother or father had been killed in action.
This was that war at home.

"Out, and About"

Washington whose contradictory spirit still leads us in Union Square park.
I went out today to downtown. This to pick up my new phone, and assorted supplies. There were folks about...more behind masks now. Traffic very light. Only a few allowed into shops at a time. That, and many closed altogether.
I felt a calmness here in the Emerald City. Beneath grey skies a quietness. Life went on, but with a difference. An awareness. Still there was a common good humor. Friendly helpfulness about. I came home with a good feeling. Folks were positive, and easy to laugh. You all be well.

Quiet along East 17th Street.

Spring insists.

East 14th street at mid-day in the formerly busy Emerald City.

Blooms on 17th Street. The Earth Abides.

#4 Train mid-day.

My home station with it's science fiction themed steel bars. ...there's a paper in this somewhere.

You Comrades use ya damned Heads.

Be Safe Be Fucking Smart, and Be Kind.

Also don't forget to load up on beans booze shot gun shells flares trip wires com-units.
That, and fucking Gold,...and plenty of it.

See you suckers on the other side of this!

Btw,

You can click on my photos to make them bigger.
Well not really 'that' much bigger.
'But ya know.

Also I was thinking of going out more often to take snaps
of the end of the fucking world.
But then I thought.
...fuck that.

I don't wanna fucking die, what the hell's da matter with you?
You want me to risk shitting blood out of my eyes for your
entertainment,...fuck that.

Otherwise I loves ya all.
Just don't do any stupid shit like catching this Plague.
Stay tuned.

Meanwhile here's a plate from an old Pacifist Comic Book.
I worked at a Quaker Press as a youth.
I published it 47 years ago.
Fucking Vietnam had just ended
Like suckers and we thought there'd peace forever.

Anyway.

I think this page is tame, and cute enough not to get me deleted.
I tell ya there's other pages that sure would.
Fog of War all that.

Now that we're all stuck in our digs.
Here's something to do.
I invite you to copy, and color it.

I sure did, but at the time couldn't afford to publish a color edition.
Now that I can,...in a way.
Nobody wants it.

Figures.

"...traffic"

I've been living in semi-isolation since retirement. Odd considering I had such a public life for decades before that.
Now much of the world joins me in this solitary life.

I can hear my neighbors all the time now. Apartment life. I'm more used to their active comings, and goings.

Now like me they're always home.
I got earplugs at the drug store. Still no masks nor rubbing alcohol. Everyone rinses their hands with that when they can get it.
Streets were noticeably slower quieter today. So I heard our Ice Cream truck making it's appearance. It came, and went quickly,....not much walk in business.

Been watching City-Cams around the world. Italian cities look empty,...like in a sci/fi movie. Seattle the same. Various cities around the world are in various stages of slowing down.

We are witnessing history.
A history that is moving faster than we're used to. For the first time I'm more than concerned. When I went to the Hospital earlier this week. This to get checked up, and renew my meds. I saw things.

Whole sections closed off.
Bright orange signs saying "Special Procedure Area. No Admittance". That, and security there. They're getting ready. There's going to be great sickness, and death here.

We know that we knew that we all did, and do. It's was just seeing this that changed things. Made it finally viscerally real.
I have the same feeling we all had in the Emerald City when Storm Sandy was inching it's way here.

Apprehension.
Considering the unknowns. Will it be as hard as they say or will it just blow past. We have to be ready. Brave cautious, and as I always say Kind.

You be well.

(...above, life atop my computer this morning. Remember always carry a Fiat or two in your pocket,...you never know.)

"...Bless"

I was offline today till now. I had to pull my head out of that beehive. I don't know the world's latest. ...other than now it's in all 50 States. However I can give you my subjective local view of things. Traffic seemed lighter.
Those that can working at home,...or worse laid off.

Went shopping, and to laundry. My local is taking only ten loads a day. I was number 12. My friend the owner let me in. She said she was making exceptions for old customers. Bless her. The markets are open. Shelves perhaps 30% empty. This after being restocked from the earlier rush.

I assume the distributors are not topping off the locals,...holding back. A wait, and see. The library was closed. A note said new shorter hours. also directions to the main branch downtown. This has a normal schedule.

The food take outs except for the chains were shut.
The Haitian Chinese  Hispanic, and Indian take outs either closed for two weeks or on shortened times.

Maybe one in six wearing masks.
Btw the drug store was out of these all week so far. Folks speaking to each other.  New Yorker's open up when shit hits the fan. Folks telling their personal war stories of this thing. Blessing each other.

I'm listening to WQXR while posting this. These guys are one of the last Classical Station's in the region. We used to have several.

https://www.wqxr.org/

They're programing music for this event.
This to help, and calm folks. Giving good information, and beautiful music. Some host's reading emails from listeners.

Just now several emails from musicians laid off as all concerts are cancelled for the duration. Musicians artists of all genres. Classical Blues Rock Folk,...are all listening to 'QXR. ...as am I.

As I say people are speaking. This brings out our best. So often we part by saying "...Bless you". I did this as well,...western rationalist that I more or less am. A Blessing is an intent of positive affirmation to another. These days especially.

As for our national situation,...

We all have an idea of what's coming.
Given how badly the Feds have acted so far. This is so terrible that's it's beyond mere blame of any disturbed person or political deadlock. It's just happening, and we are all in it.

We're likely in for the Italian model. We're two to three weeks out from it. So should be calmly prepared. Bless you all.

That term again, "...Bless you."

As I post this on the evening of March 17th 2020 I hear Bells.
Saint Marks with her new bells barely two years old in her 120 year old steeple. That, and Saint Gregory's further down with her 140 year old brass. Both chiming as the sun sets.

With a hymn of Bells, and Blessings on the lips of many. That's Brooklyn or my part of it on this dusk.

...Bless you all.

(...The Bells of Saint Greg's above.)
