I can disassemble them. The fuselage from the wings. My above the below P-40E have lived in my bedroom closet. Mind you when I had a squadron of these things…and good grief I did. I had a much bigger place. Visitors were very convinced of my eccentric nature on viewing my airbase. I am a peacenik but have a thing for model planes. My Cousin Jimmy gave me this when I was six…still have it. Oddly the Nuns gave me the Church at the same age. That didn’t last as long.
When you create something, you create a storage problem; this is one great advantage of books and other works on paper over 3D items. They're also easier to hide from vandals; another issue is the need for dusting.
ReplyDeleteWe had decades of peace because the Allies and the USSR stomped Fascism and the USA occupied Germany for 75 years. Now that's going to end because we can't afford it any more. Once we go, the Europeans will be at one another's throats like so often before. I'm actually rather glad I live on this continent, despite the awful catastrophes one can see coming down the pike toward us.

WW2 and the long Cold War kept the European tradition of ethnic/religious genocides in check. These long wars kept the fucking lid on. When they ended that continent went back to its default position. Starting almost immediately with the 1990's mini-genocides.

Russia had been chewing up its former vassals for the last 15 years or so. Now big game. Taking down an industrial republic the size of France with 45 million folks in it. Still, they figured it was a walk over.
Documents are turning up among the captured Russian grunts. These tell of plans for a great victory parade in both Kiev and Moscow on Mayday. They went in expecting no resistance.
Which is why their tactics are near nonexistent. No effective battle doctrine whatever. Sending in long columns of tanks without infantry support. Landing paratroops into areas when they thought no one would be shooting back. The columns blown to bits. The paras shot in the sky. They never go their chutes off.

It's so bad they dragooning Syrians to be their cannon fodder by paying them $3k a month. They normally make that in a year. Belarus is backing off from joining as its officer class is resigning and its grunts are defecting to surround countries.
Mind you by force blunt dumb weight Ukraine is toast. For now. Soon they will be the new Afghanistan...again. The Great Game never changes.
Like I sez I watch the years the long Congo wars...parts one and two which no one in this country has ever heard of. 5,000,000+ dead three time maimed displaced. Zip not so much as a mention.
Which is why I haven't joined the weeping party for the Ukrainians. I'm sorry for all of them even the Russian conscripts. But ya get my position here. It sucks it all sucks to fucking hell and it ain't even thinking about stopping.
If I had an app to view online programming from 2028. It would show Russian outposts being slaughtered by Ukrainian partisans supplied by us and NATO. The extermination of yet another Ukrainian village in reprisal. Habits are hard to break.
