I loved the old media. Top 40 radio playing Little Richard and da Beatles. Kid’s TV shows with classic 40’s cartoons. They had guys in clown suits that sold you crap full of sugar and taught basic morality. “…Remember kids, try not to kill anybody today!”
An innocent time.
There were even news programs that at least tried to tell the truth. That, and the commercials were stupid, and funny. As opposed to stupid, and insidious today. All that and our beloved libraries. Islands of sanity. Fortresses of Civilization. Threatened then as now.
The country is burning books again.
This time a cartoon book telling the story of the Holocaust.
“Maus” by Art Spigelman was published 42 years ago. Tennessee just found out about it so are burning it. Why? Who knows it’s Tennessee and we’re in a demented culture war.
So go buy a copy just in case things go sideways in this country after all. The last five years have taught us it can happen here.
Btw I can only show a fragment of the incorrect cover.
On da bright side I finally found some sugarless ice cream. Ain’t hardly seen any since the damned plague started. In times like these it’s da little things. You folks be careful out there.
