"...forget"

As Thanksgiving nears broadcast, and online platforms are full of stories about the poor, and hungry. Now politely called "... the food insecure". When the holiday ends these will be quietly pulled. Then we can forget about the American poor, and hungry for another year.

49,000,000 millions of poor in the United States of America. Out numbering some Western European nations. 9,000,000 of them in absolute poverty. Third World Poverty. These are the real numbers.

Some states in the West, and the South deliberately suppress the figures. Limiting the definitions of poverty. This for racial, and ideological reasons. That removed the above are the true numbers. With such a sea of suffering. You likely know someone who was or is houseless poor or hungry.

You know me.

From a journal I kept during my Houseless Year.
"Every day my life becomes a more distant echo of an echo of what it was."

Enjoy the Holidays. Honor every blessing.
Be grateful for family friends' warmth, and food. Never take it for granted.
In our kind of culture, it can be lost in a heartbeat. Literal hundreds of thousands during the Pandemic have fallen quickly, and deeply.

We know this. We always knew this.
Most have done nothing. Indeed, some refuse to. Yet it is our moral duty to end want.
As rich as this country is we've sacred obligation to make such suffering end.

Not just end but to be Impossible.

  2. Would that none of this were so.
We could change all this. We have the means to uplift all the suffering people of our republic. However, we've made a choice not to. This by our daily actions how we vote or don't bother voting.
    We're fine with it.
