A few days ago I posted that we hit 90,000 new COVID cases for that day. Now I find that yesterday for just that day it was 100,000 new cases of the Pandemic. One sits stunned. This is beyond this election or any assorted madmen or villains. This is history we are in an historic moment for our republic. This is far so far past any speaking or opinions.
The Spanish Flu killed ane estimated 675,000 Americans. It seem that the current pandemic could kill at least half that number. God forbid that it should be worse,
ReplyDeleteThe population of the USA in 1918 was about 103 million.
DeleteToday the population is over 330 million. So if we are going to surpass the Spanish Flu epidemic, we have a long way to go. But I fear we may get there too, and sooner rather than later.
If things remain as they are.
ReplyDeleteIf our response stays the same. No matter who gets elected.
We 'will' hit near 1,000,000 or even more by next summer/fall.
This is as Eisenhower put it at the height of the Cold War...
"...just the awful Arithmetic of our situation."
The butcher's bill will grow larger. That is certain. I hope that it will not amount to a million souls, but it could. Given the current growth in case numbers, and hospitalizations, we most likely will see another 100 thousand dead by the end of the year in the United States.
ReplyDeleteA further year of this madness of one thousand dead each day would add up to over six hundred thousand dead.
And none of it is necessary.
Before he passes. Mr. trump must be held accountable for this.
ReplyDeleteIt lays at his feet.
