It was a warm hazy day so I went out for a while.
Few on the streets, and traffic very light.
The NYC Lockdown is still in effect.
Unlike Dakota we've seen ten's of thousands die.
So it's not a liberal plot to us.

I went to the Post office while it still exists.
That, and the hardware store.
An essential business.

I took a few shots along the way.
Uncle Syd's Neighborhood.

Most of the housing stock went up the same time
the Subways went in around here. Roughly 1910~17.
The above building dates from 1914.
My digs from 1899.

They built with an eye to last then.
These with general matinance will last centuries to come.
This is my 'Hood.
My family moved to the area in 1939.
This when my grand mother bought properties here.
My dad bought a brownstone nearby for us in 1954.

This is where I grew up, and learned to be a Queer Anarchist.
Also where I've returned for the balance of my days.
These Streets are my Home.
I have returned to them for the final reels.

  1. It looks like a pretty well put together place, intended for durable human habitation.

  2. Well a century, and a quarter since it was vacant lots or still actually farms. That, and still looking pretty good.

Mind it had three down periods...the depression the War, and then the 90's. This when there was little/no maintenance.
    It was shabby as hell.

This happens,...the cycle of any 'hood.
However the basic buildings survived it all, and came back each time...and will again through the next several centuries.
