"I Hate it Here"

I'm just passing time in my isolated hovel waiting for the steam of Summer to fucking end. How I despise, and hate this time of year. Heat bugs assholes setting off fire crackers then more heat, and bugs.

Did I mention this is when young morons tend to shoot each other on my block. Five last summer shot dead,...one just outside my building, and this is a "safe" 'hood. I hear out in Chicago they have monthly body counts in the hundreds.

No one cares.

So I sleep go online sleep have hospital events come home, and sleep. I'm just waiting for this final reel to fucking end so I can get out of here. Btw the first thing I read when I got up. The Border Patrol has an online page where they laugh at the dead migrants.

The ones that die in their custody.

That, and all the usual vicious racist crap they're famous for. They have an established internal culture of cruelty, and violence. The feds when this was unearthed, "...had no comment." How are you enjoying the 21st century so far?

Have a nice day.

This is the poison in the American soul, and it has made a home there.

Also, it turns out that in practice indifference does as much harm as deliberate cruelty. Right now in L.A. 58,000 homeless people living perforce among rats and filth run the risk of igniting a typhus epidemic which could easily kill who knows how many people. In New York it's 72,000 homeless, in San Francisco 7,500. This is a humanitarian crisis and a grave public health risk that should be treated as a national emergency. And yet when the Dumbocrats recently had their "debate," did any of them even mention it? Any serious attempt to address the matter would threaten the real estate investment portfolios of their cushy constituents. Nothing intelligent will ever be done.

I hate it here so much that if I get a chance I will be crossing the same border, going the other way. I didn't study Spanish for two years just for academic reasons.

  3. Btw the actual Homeless population is just past three Millions.

500,000+ on the streets. This is always the figure given. The 'real' number 3,000,000+. This larger number is the "Hidden Homeless".

This counts 'all' with no stable address. Those with friends family or other circumstances,...Hidden.
I was "hidden" for most of my Homeless year. I slept hidden at my job the radio station. This when it was too cold or when I wore out welcomes at various friends.

Being the head of my department at the time I had keys to everything. So I found places to sleep on one or other of our floors or storage areas.

Yeah that's right I was the executive of a whole broadcast department. Employed insured, but with no home.

With the explosive cost of housing even 10 years ago it often works that way. Most of the Homeless are in some way employed.

    Not that this matters.

Because even with two jobs housing is unaffordable for many tens of millions. This, and it's not an issue. No one cares nor will they care. This is who we are this is what we've become.

  4. 3 million? Yes, I believe it, absolutely. Just last year the California State University, a vast multi-campus institution, admitted that ten percent of its students have no fixed dwelling, and five percent don't know where their next meal is coming from. This means many thousands of (mostly) young people who allegedly constitute our wonderful future are going homeless and hungry - and that's just in one state.

As an alumnus I received by mail a request from the University that I donate to it on behalf of its many hungry homeless students. Of course this (expensive, glossy) literate contained no proposal to cut back on the grotesquely inflated budget of the university's bloated bureaucracy, which has swollen far beyond all due proportion in the past few decades, and whose job-secure members receive comfy salaries, generous medical coverage and cushy pensions. They can't help their students and are always slashing arts budgets (of course), yet they never seem to lack the money to put up huge new trophy buildings on their campuses or a 20 million dollar sports facility to make the jocks happy.

Even were this not the case, I had no money to give them anyway on account of the worthlessness of the diploma that I earned from that institution many years ago, an institution which now exists solely to extract money from taxpayers and from hopelessly indebted students - unless you count its value as an indoctrination factory.

What really appalls me about this country is the many ways in which we demonstrate beyond all possibility of doubt that we don't give a shit about each other. This is the sure sign of a country that has no future worth being a part of. Not that many other countries are any great shakes, or course.

  5. Like the mini-ice age this may be seen as a mini-western moral dark age. I'm being vastly optimistic assuming this dark era will pass.

    It won't.

It'll just go on to something else. Much as Segregation racists have gone from tormenting, and murdering Negros to tormenting, and killing Hispanics.

Maybe Asian again next after this.
