"...so it goes, and goes"
Well I wake up after a rather painful weird fucked up night to this. Seems there was a panic at the Washington DC Pride Parade. Shots fired man with a gun.
This freaks out thousands, and they run.
Causing many injuries as panics do. This might have been the point,...if shots fired. Which the heats sez maybe not, but they arrested some guy with a gun. Me I think yeah it happened given the attitudes towards Queers locally in DC.
Meantime a local Ohio paper had a full front page color pix of #45. Headline, "A White Man's President". This to celebrate June 6th D-Day remembrances. On the other hand some months back far left local papers here in the Emerald City did the same for African dictator, and mass murderer Robert Mugabe. This to celebrate his birthday.
Btw here are some numbers if ya interested.
More Americans were killed from Jan. to June 6th 2019 than were killed on D-Day June 6th 1944. 2500+ were k.i.a. on D-day.
More than 16,000+ Americans died by gun violence from January to June 6th 2019.
Just short of the 19,000+ American soldiers killed in the "Battle of the Bulge' the largest Nazi offensive in the West. ("+" in all cases because of rounded off figures.)
This country sucks pretty bad at the moment.

"...stunned" 1944 Americans in stunned horror. This as they see 2019 Americans support Nazis.

‘The American Dream has run out of gas. The car has stopped. It no longer supplies the world with its images, its dreams, its fantasies. No more. It's over. It supplies the world with its nightmares now…’ -J. G .Ballard
ReplyDeleteYa think?
ReplyDeleteActually I am beginning to think that the whole world has run out of gas. It has been several years since Ballard wrote that. As far as I am concerned, the apocalypse has already begun globally; environmentally, politically, socially... the world has rapidly become one vast hell-hole. It didn't have to be like this, but there we are!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I lived when I did.
ReplyDeleteAs a young boy, and youth I lived in saw the late 1950's through the mid-late 60's. The absolute peak of the Empire.
There was actual hope.
It was thick in the air,...it could be tasted.
I mean it. Even with all the oppressions still in full bloom around us. However,...
Seems we were mistaken in thinking that merely overturning bad laws,...which we did, would change anything.
They don't call it the "Heart of Darkness" for nothing.
South Africa has a young up-and-coming wannabe Bob Mugabe called Julius Malema. He's a fun guy, if genocidal threats are fun.
ReplyDeleteI remember the late 60s too. What a wonderful thing hope was.
Oh fuck,...just get me out'a here.
