I just read this on an alternate history page.

"The 20-year-old student who participated in the Summer of Love in 1967 is now 72 years old."

"People who were born in that era lived at the same time the last people who remembered the 1860s and 1870s lived."

As a little kid an elder across the street was a Spanish American War vet. My father knew Civil War vets as a boy, and young man. 
My great great grandmother was born a Slave,...she held me in her arms. This a few months after my birth in 1950.

At the Memorial Day parades WW1 Vets marched at the front. They were younger than I am now. We are farther away from the Vietnam War than we were from WW1 when I was a little kid.

I shouldn't be alive, but fuck'em I am.
