However I thought I'd codify the damned thing.
To begin I'll post the thank you to some California FB comrades for gifting me a subscription to the "New Yorker" magazine.
New York File.
"Thanks again for the sub to the "New Yorker". Just living here is not enuff ya has to read the damned thing too. Mind you the folks that writes for it, and does them cartoons all mostly came from other places.
As kids or wannabee beatniks they read the 'Zine, and took the greyhound here.
They still don't have a clue, but bless their souls for trying.
They've created a fantasy New York that real New Yorkers wish they could live in. Regular folks here don't have many cocktails go to clubs read high brow crap or go to expensive openings.
But fuck it we get by.
That, and we like reading about the transplanted folks from Wyoming that do. Being a born New Yorker I can't imagine not wandering around knee deep in garbage taxes sudden death, and slush.
Them Folks from where they can see stars at night, and no Jews or Negros are a mystery. Like space aliens. Aliens that have come to my town, and write dreams, and notions of what they think this place is.
Think Vulcans in Detroit.
So thanks again for this Dream on Hudson weekly you've so kindly sent. I will not wrap fish nor wipe my dog's butt with it. As I hate fish, and don't much like dogs."
Peace.
