This from when I was somewhat more ambulatory. I used to wander about town taking shots of da sights. Like the show a pal once produced. "The Tourist at Home"
The early skyscrapers were built to last the ages. That was the actual intent if you read the expectations of it's designers. The glass steel frame things were always assumed to be disposable.
The first the Leaver House, (1952) was already rotting away by the 1970's. Later as it became near un-usable it had to be rebuild. This in the early 2000's.
All buildings need repairs. The Empire State Building underwent expensive repairs to its exterior. It must be said that it did not need them as soon. And some buildings when they start to fall apart, it is a godsend.
A good job the building is still there.
