Heard this song when I was maybe 14 or 15.
ReplyDeleteIt was the first indication that there was a Queer universe out there somewhere. Years later I interviewed Donovan on my radio program. He said he didn't mean it as specifically gay, but knew many might hear it that way which he said was fine.
It was from his view two lads on an adventure being close. I said, "...close enough!" We both laughed.
This song was like a fragment of a subspace message picked up on my bedroom wireless. I say wireless because it was.
My radio dated from the 1930's...a millions years ago even then. It was my uncle's when he was a boy. he gave it to me to mess about with.
