"Ghost in the Machine"

Media full of stories about the hungry, and homeless these last days what with Thanksgiving here. They'll pull these in a day or two. Then we can forget about the American poor~hungry for another year.
There are 49,000,000 millions of poor in the United States of America.
Out numbering Western European nations.
9,000,000 of them in absolute poverty. Third World Poverty.

It's coming up on my 10th anniversary of being put out onto the street. My Homeless Year.
There I am above a Ghost in the Machine. I told no one,...pride. There are many hidden Homeless Survivors,...you very likely know some.

You know me.

As for me. I'm a performer so I survived by acting the part of myself. Sidney as still a person. I bought new outfits to fit in. These were my costumes. This show ran for a whole year to full houses.

I remember this selfie. I was about to bathe in the staff washroom of the building I worked in. I still had a job. This didn't make that much difference as I still slept in the rain, and snow.

I type the words, but I wonder at how I did this,...that this really happened, and I lived. We have strengths we don't imagine.

My lasting memory of that time was being very cold, and wet.
Always that.
In my journal I wrote, "...my life has become an echo of an echo of what it was. I'm in another world with a new up a new down. I have just been born".

Enjoy the Holidays. Honor every blessing.
Be grateful for friends warmth, and food. Never take it for granted.
It can be lost in a heartbeat.

It is our moral duty to end want.
A sacred obligation to make such suffering Impossible.
