"Newspeak"

The Texas Board of Education has removed Thurgood Marshall Hellen Keller former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and others from their curriculum.
These historical figures are now "Un-Persons".

It was felt by a vote of Board members that these, and others should be among the number removed. This because they thought that children were required to learn of too many historical figures.

However General Bedford Forest noted for executing surrendered Black Union troops during the Civil War stays. Orval Faubus Segregationist 1950's Arkansas governor stays. Jefferson Davis first, and last president of the proto-Nazi Slave holding Confederacy stays.

As does a league of other personalities of interesting opinion.

If Texas becomes a republic again it would have much in common with Gilead. The so far fiction totalitarian religious fundamentalist state in the novel, and current TV series "A Handmaids Tale".
