ReplyDeleteMy feeling the same. I never thought my last years would be spent in 1953. I shouldn't be surprised thee was an inevitable push back coming against the Civil Rights, and vestigial Queer, and feminists movements.

Calling the police whenever they see un-white people anywhere doing anything. The police then taking then violently down or outright shooting them dead.
Queer bashing dark laws, and regulations routinely enacted. The big surprise I guess is the open treason by the President which he insists was great, and his base applauds.
The one good thing is that the majority now finally understands what this is, and now knows it's not just them,...this is an evil dark time. If they do anything is anyone's guess.
Because just like last time. When the Storm troopers start marching they are not coming for them.
They're after the perverts trouble makers the un-white un-middleclass unwanted despised of society. It took a world war to stop them before. This time there is no America to save anyone.
This time around America is part of the darkness.
My plan is to keep painting while Rome burns and enjoy the spectacle of decline & collapse. It’s like watching a disaster movie - Towering Inferno or The Poseidon Adventure, for instance. Whether we drop into the abyss like Shelly Winters, or arrive at the upturned keel with Ernest Borgnine and company, it’ll be a rollicking adventure, a toboggan ride to the very bottom. (Just forget about the helicopter rescue at the end - that part’s been struck from the script.)

I never bought that last minute rescue. They all should have died just beneath the steel bottom or in their case top of the ship. The studio probably demanded the happy ending.

The mid-terms then 2020. One of them 'has' to be won by other than nationalists. Losing 2018 will be bad. Losing that, and 2020 is the end of the republic as we knew it.
It will be a death sentence for many.
I mean just that. Internment, and eventual death for the usual suspects. I'm sure the liberals will feel just awful for us,...and still not vote. if voting is still an option.
