"Oblivious"

As ya know I pass my days staring blankly sleeping or watching doucs, and lectures on YouTube. Lately my fav topic is immediate post WW2 politics, and culture. Lots of footage of Axis troops surrendering the first occupations.  The culture shock of defeat on the common people. That, and the utter estrangement from reality by the Axis leadership.

In the first days after the surrender. Some German authorities in areas not occupied by the Russians thought it was going to be much as after WW1. Some elements of their government would continue. Their armed forces though perhaps required to reduce in size would remain.

That, and it's leadership would be free at large some still in office. This as after the WW1 Armistice some 25 or so years before.

Goring above at a news conference with the Allied press. He was treated with respect by them, and the Allied officers present. The former Luftwaffe chief actually thought he might be asked to lecture at West Point. All this before the gravity of the Nazi era was realized.

(...below video of Goring with Major J.R. Andersen strolling about. He was not yet identified as a war Criminal.)

The then German leadership was oblivious to the profound evil they had done. Much as the current One Percent.

"Me in the 9th U.S.Colored Volunteer Infantry",...1863

While in this time of troubles I turned to my old friend Walt Whitman. This his Civil War prose from my well thumbed volume "The Portable Walt Whitman" Penguin Classics. I've dragged this thing around with me maybe 20 years now.
It never lets ya down.
In particular given my current adventures I've been sailing his Civil War writings. The hospital notes for sure. He while a scribe with the War Department,...or was it Interior? Well after his duties he'd go over to the overflowing soldiers hospitals spread about Washington City as it was then.
He would give comfort to those of both sides. He'd listen give little gifts of writing paper pencils hard candy. Take mail from them, and such small, but vital kindnesses as that.
As he said the listening the just being there seemed to these men the greatest gift. In reading of these survivors from our worse most bitter war. These boys tender young teens to older gents like myself well into their sixties. These who fought in this Republic's most harsh of People's wars.
They tore slashed burned, and shot each other to tatters. This for an idea. Wars fought for these...for ideas were then very new. Traditionally one fought because your prince or king ordered you to. Now for what's in your heart. Which only made the cruel institution even worse.
As I've read the tragic nature about the War Amongst the American States was that it was fought over a dream. A tragic difference in dreams.
I was asked why would I as a person believing in peaceful resolutions wear a uniform? Well,...other than I just like it, and it's interesting drag. I wear it because like most of you. I'm a soldier in the unfinished business of our Republic.
Now here we are at yet a new stage of that on going great contest. Still imagining Dreams. Our direction as a community of communities still being decided though now digital battlefields.
The outcome remains as it has so long been,...Uncertain.

Bob the Bunny is Watching.

He sees you when eat chocolate.
He knows when you are stoned.
He sees you when you read Proust .
He hears you when you lie.
So be Ironic for Heaven's sakes.

The KHAN

Ya don't fuck with this guy.

Speaking of War Criminals. None of today's or the last century's villains, and mass murderers were remotely scary on a personal level. They were mostly bi-polar sociopaths with sexual disfunctions in tacky comic opera uniforms, and daddy issues.

If you met one of these jerks at a bus stop you'd not notice.

Rounding a corner, and bumping into Marvel's Dr. Doom would be another matter. You'd know your shit was in a jam on sight. Such villains, and master criminals these days are restricted to the realms of fantasy.

The same as Heroes.

Superman Jesus Wonder Woman, and Sponge Bob come to mind.
Life is actually rather dull. Even our genocides have no real imagination to them. I mean the Elves facing off against the hoards of Orcs is a story an automatic legend.

North vs South Sudan not so much.

There has to be a great truth against great wrong. As opposed to gangs of rapist butchers hacking each other up over the scraps of a departed colonizer. Though the dead are just as dead.

One is worthy of a song one is not.

How our taste in Mass Murderers has fallen. The Kahn of the Golden Hoard a zillion years later still has movies made about him.
There was a Butcher worthy of the name.  Whole bleeping continents still bear his scars.

Human madness summed up in one deranged maniac

That guy 'liked' getting both hands dirty. A severed head eyes still blinking in one, and still beating heart in the other,...which he takes a bite out of to the approving laughter of his Hoards.

Think of the t-shirts caps, and slurpy jugs this guy could sell.

Whereas we got calm quietly deranged Himmler, and his pals. Ya know the guy what fainted on seeing a prisoner shot, and threw up on being shown a pit full of the people he ordered killed. Such as this attempted to exterminate whole peoples

Then there's the Good Guys.

American, and Brit Signal Corps corporals between coffee breaks typed up orders to flame Dresden Hiroshima Hamburg, and Tokyo.
Later without a thought for the Nuremburg judgment their sons issued instructions to poison Indochina with Agent Orange.
Red Army clerks being careful of typos sending orders to depopulate the Ukraine. Expelling the survivors to Siberia.

Sorry stuff.

The world was being slaughtered by clerks on orders from comic opera politicians, and careerist generals. The sort who worried they might miss their train home.

This is not progress.

If The village exterminating head chopping Ayatollahs had some personal grand evil style we'd have wiped them out by now.

That whole Valiant Elves vs the Evil Orcs thing.

Instead they're mere hysterical clerics droning on YouTube. Telling jobless broke horny kids they'll get laid forever in heaven if they blow themselves up.

The g-ds must be so disappointed in us.

I just had this dream of a bar in Valhalla.
Hitler Pol Pot Himmler, and Che the executioner walk in for a few. The Khan, and his pals are there clap eyes on these amatures. They fall on them gleefully hack their arms off, and use these to butt fuck them.

Then shoved live grenades down their throats starting with what was left of Hitler. Locked them in the shitter, and waited for the fun. Yeah these guys knew their business.

Eh,...this being warrior's heaven Khan, and his pals can did this over, and over till the radioactive cows come home.

All in all I'd rather be at a 1956 Boy Scout Jamboree.

Me in about six months.
The sign on my back will start.

"And Another Thing,....!"

"...this just in"

Was just sent the below by a pal.
Seems the Chess master ain't done yet.
As usual team #45 is playing Checkers.

*

Folks including me wanted a smoking gun. #45, and Putin
working out a deal. This while commie sex workers peed on them.
Lawyers are just not that entertaining in their work.

So it'll be a long haul through the Courts.
This  as more, and more of team #45 are put away.
There to be butt fucked by the people they fucked.
Seems just to me.

Even after that illiterate disturbed imbecile is re-installed.
His crowd of enablers will more, and more
be wearing orange, and not picking up the soap.

It all balances out in the end.

Btw #45 is not the most incompetent racist or corrupt president.
Jackson Grant, and Hayes plus a dozen others
would give #45 a run for his money.

"The Quiet History of Fictional Americans"
This week Aunt Bee from the Andy Griffith Show.
Margaret Ruth Bea, "...Bee", was called "Aunt" by all in the fictional world of the Andy Griffiths Show. The era was the early 1960's U.S. South. Strangely none of the racial traumas common then ever makes an appearance. However as we will see Margaret was more than aware of them.
Margaret was a member of the Young Communists League at Stanford when a freshman in 1935. She left after the war when the truth of the USSR became apparent. Still an idealist she became an associate of the NAACP. Not a member. Those days whites even fictional ones in the South had to support Civil Rights covertly.
For reasons known only to herself she became a fixture in the bizarrely unaffected by history town of  Mayberry. State, and county still unknown.
In suppressed episodes of "Mayberry" she is seen holding a one person demonstration against the Klan. That, and slapping Opie across the room when he used the "N" word.
In later years she moved on to other fantasy towns commercial spots, and voicework. She eventually got her masters in computer science, and was a player in the early days of the Digital Age. She retired from IBM in 1985.
She has since dedicated her time to working on behalf of the Homeless, and now at 103 gives aid to persecuted Immigrants.
Her 16 year old great-grandson helps produce her weekly progressive 'web live stream, "Old Bat out of Hell!"

"...Fire Sale!"
