Gimme a break.
Like I posted a few days ago. Haul that piece of loser shit back to the damned shed. Blow torch it for scrap and forget the whole thing. All we're doing is embarrassing ourselves now. This is what an end of Empire looks like.
Reminds me of Russia's only aircraft carrier. It breaks down every five minutes. The last time they tried to sail in deep water. It had to be rescued by tugs and dragged home.
Well at least the Webb telescope is working, sort of. It's been hit by a few space fragments, one of which damaged a mirror panel. I've seen some photos and the resolution looks terrific.
ReplyDeleteAircraft carriers are an obsolete technology. They're easily taken out by missiles against which no ship has any effective defense. I'm surprised the Russians still bother with one; maybe it's for show, or is a training vessel. So far as I'm aware, nuclear subs are the real rulers of the ocean.

Submersibles have been the Queens of the Oceans since the late 1980's. However, like the battleship admirals of the 30's. The carrier admirals still hold sway. The Battleship doctrine died on December 7th, 1941. The carrier hegemony will have a similar fate.
ReplyDeleteLikely in the Sea of Japan during the coming Taiwan War. When Chinese missiles wipe out whole carrier task forces. However, and if it stays non-nuke China will lose the sub war.
Speaking of war.
Russian went all 1941 in Ukraine. An actual land invasion right out of the WW2 era. As we learned in Vietnam and Iraq. You can't win a war against a people that hates your guts down to the last child. You'd think Afghanistan would have taught them mafia commies that. War and the maniacs that plan them are so profoundly stupid and murderous.
We're neato when it comes to robotic exploration of space. Hint stick to what you're good at. As I sez our manned stuff has always been dicey. That we didn't lose more folks up there is just blind dumb luck.
ReplyDeletePredatory capitalist space outfits have more of the right stuff. Their lawyers force them to. They're doing it for money so their shit tends to actually work. If it don't their shareholders will sue them into eternity. There will be 'actual' consequences.
I'm no fan of them space pirates. However, they're more likely to get folks around the system alive than any bunch of Gubbermint wonks. It's a matter of attitude. Gawd help us but money talks.
