Stories of Ukrainians, see above, finding abandoned Russian tanks and equipment along roads in woods and outside of towns is starting to make sense. Western intel sez the morale problem among young Russian conscripts is seriously bad. They are punching holes into the fuel lines of their tanks trucks and armored cars to avoid combat. Some are just walking away from them to surrender to Ukrainian forces.
Seems they want to sit this thing out as a POWs. Russia still has a universal draft. Youngsters 17 years old and up must serve a year in the service. So they are not a professional army. Many hardly trained at all. Most didn't even know they were headed into a real war. Prisoners interviewed say they were told this was just another exercise.
The dream of all soldiers in war is to just get up and go home.
