"...modern times"

These confused divided even hateful times makes me wonder at our current values. The TV show "Fifty Shades of Grey" is romantic only because the star is a billionaire. If he were living in a trailer or ghetto, it would be an episode of "Criminal Minds".

If wealthy you're a creative eccentric. If poor like my late friend Marsha Johnson. Stonewall era gay artist. You're put on anti-psychotics. In 2021 an Arthur Rimbaud figure, mug shot above, would be considered a sex offender, and or locked up for insanity. Walt Whitman by his actual life might get similar.

Whatever it is that binds families and married couples together, that's not love. That's stupidity or selfishness or fear.
    Love doesn't exist.
Self interest exists, attachment based on personal gain exists, complacency exists. But not love.
Love has to be reinvented, that’s certain.”

  3. All true. And Verlaine would have been the target of a #MeToo campaign of character assassination and career destruction.

But I don't think Rimbaud would have helped them. He sounds like a toughie.

  4. Rimbaud would have taken the lot of these Nazi-Neo-Puritans head on.
Come what may, and enjoyed every moment of it.
    Wadda guy.
