…alive”

Growing up Queer in the era I did. The 1950’s through 70’s. All I wanted was to not be beaten to death. That was my idea of gay rights. The Stonewall days was just that. The right to be alive. Anything more was science fiction. The then attitude was we should be killed. As a queer child, and young adult. I’d hear this desire commonly all around me. It was a given.

So all that’s happened. At least in some western countries,…Queers as just another bunch of boring taxpayers. It’s other worldly. The only analogy for me would be living when Emancipation happened or the Liberation of the Camps. Some won’t like that. In our times these historic events are specifically owned. However that’s what I feel. That’s what I own.
