A bust of George Floyd. A man who was executed on camera by Minneapolis police. This memorial was in the process of being installed in NYC's Union Square was today defaced with paint. It was earlier vandalized in Brooklyn before being moved to the Square.
A similar statue dedicated to Mr. Floyd last June in Newark New Jersey was similarly attacked. Black paint poured, and white supremacist stickers plastered about it. Far right platforms justified this as a reaction to Confederate monuments being assaulted or torn down. Our unfinished Civil War continues.
Those devoted to vandalism have no right to expect protection therefrom. Did you know that last summer the "abolitionists" tore down a statue of Frederick Douglass? Thanks to Defund the Police, in the past year murders of black victims were up by 2,000 compared with prior recent years, or so I've read. What kind of justice movement is that? One that is sponsored by corporations and puppeteered by rich white people for their own benefit.
