I haven't smoked dope in I think decades now. It was illegal for over a century. This as a deliberate act of criminalization suppression of brown black, and native people. Native folk Mexicans, and Black people were those who mostly used it. White artists, and teens later in the 20th century.
Public opinion after decades of unjust official behaviors finally favored legalization or at least decriminalization. Except for a particular age demographic of whites,...Biden among them. These would keep putting people in prison for it.
Texas back in the 1990's gave a guy 100 years for having a single Cannabis plant. He's still there far as I know. Texas leads in the death penalty folks with guns, and wanting to leave the Union to form a totalitarian theocracy. They're just funny that way. Great Bar-B-Q though.
Despite all this legalization for me seemed anti-climatic. Maybe it was just being numbed by the wrongness of it being suppressed all my life. Now you can buy the stuff legal near everywhere.
'Seems in da Emerald City it's not just legal, but fucking Mandatory. Me I ain't done dope since that Turkmenistan business. 'But ya can't walk anywhere without getting a contact high. Well that was always true just more so now.
I think my downstairs neighbor has ganja for breakfast, and dinner. The scent wisps up twice a day at those hours. I'd rather he were an alcoholic like everybody else.
To balance out not being able to put people in prison for smoking ganja. Texas,...yeah Texas again. Them fanatics now does it to doctors, and nurses that give abortions. Vigilantes are hunting woman that plan to leave to state for legal abortions in other parts of this sad republic.
The Civil War settled that a state can't leave the Union. However it said nothing about expelling them. There's maybe half a dozen on that list. Why refugees would 'want' to come to this country I don't know.
