Saint Brigid was a Gaelic G-dddess demoted to mere sainthood by the Church. Her day comes at the mid-point between Winter Solstice, and Spring Equinox. Her day was celebrated as the beginning of warmer days. She's the G-ddess of the hearth, and home. As a Christian saint she's patron to children the poor, and nuns. I never knew. I'll have to make a little shrine to Her.
