Our Capitol was assaulted, and ransacked for the first time since our war with the Crown in 1812. In 1814 Redcoats burned the White House the Congress the National Archives, and other federal buildings. Btw it was a kind of draw. The Brits too busy with the French to finish us off.
In January 2021 a stoked mob led by a rouge president refusing to acknowledge his electoral defeat attacked the Capitol Building. I would not have believed it if I had not see it with my own eyes. Some are calling it another Day of Infamy. Like Pearl Harbor which brought the U.S. into WW2. That or the start of the Civil War with the Confederate Slaver attack on Fort Sumter.
Like anyone a day after a violent assault I'm confused emotional shaken. #45 refused any responsibility for the violence or death. While still insisting he won the election. Maybe I'm too old for this sort of thing. Yet the parties that encouraged all this are older than me.
Already too many words.
Uncle Joe, and Aunt Harris were certified as the rightfully elected President, and Vice President of the United States of America. This act is what the mobs had invaded the Capitol to prevent. Also as a gift from chance the Dems swept the Georgia elections.
They now have the U.S. Senate as well as the Congress. That with control of the White House means things may slightly improve. However that will happen in the context of a violent race nationalist xenophobic white insurgency. One led by the former disturbed delusional President.
I believe these qualify as interesting times.
Mind near exhaustion still makes its final futile movement towards that "way out or round or through the impasse".
ReplyDeleteThat is the utmost now that mind can do. And this, its last expiring thrust, is to demonstrate that the door closes upon us for evermore.
There is no way out, or round or through.
-H. G. Wells, "Mind at the End of Its Tether", 1945
That Wells guy though a man of his times,...an imperialist racist xenophobe. Nonetheless had a few ideas about him.
