Someone should do a History of Parties like they always do the History of War or rich people. This because it's one of the best things we ever invented. Plumbing medicine, and salami are good too, but parties make life worth living. I mean when was the very first party. Who was there what was on the menu,...hopefully not each other.
This is why music, and beer were invented. Little parties turned into festivals which turned into politics which gave us the crap we have now. So we should have kept it local, and personal.
Come to think of it Festivals are really friendly riots. Same yelling running around, and weird stuff. Just no pillage beheadings, and fires. Be-ins of the 1960's were my first experiences of actual folk festivals. That is a gathering that's not manufactured to take your money.
Another thing.
Once parties were invented how come this didn't become the whole reason for Civilization? Instead of war, and the invention of taxes.
I mean them Bronze Age folks had all the parts. Beer music jokes food sex, and pals,...what the fuck more do you need.
I can see it. A whole world civilization based on the "Pursuit of Happiness".
That phrase got put into our Constitution for a reason. Like a sleeping seed waiting through the centuries to finally be noticed, and sprout!
You are not alone in your observations Sidney!
ReplyDelete"The goal of the future is total
unemployment, so we can play. That's why we have to destroy the
present politico-economic system."
-Interview of Arthur C. Clarke with Gene Youngblood
The system is being deliberately destroyed. ...by the system.
ReplyDeleteHowever not so excess former workers can play. These useless mouths so called by both Hitler era Nazis, and contemporary American republicans are meant to die.
This either on their own in want, and suffering or by official means through direct "removal".
The future will have no workers because there will be no actual work needed. New tech, and varieties of early AI will see to this.
As I say except for the Owner Class, ...who will be the ones doing the gleeful playing. Other than they there will be no one else living. This as no one else will be needed.
Well the Owners may keep a few young sex slaves as pets, but these will be disposed of as they grow older, and less amusing.
ReplyDeleteUltimately despite precautions.
The AI class will dispose of the Owners in time.
Then we'll finally have the Golden Digital Age of Peace, and unending Progress.
