"Hope"

This is a photo I took of the statue of sitting America.
This in front of the Old Customs House.
Lower Manhattan.

Seeing this always tells me that our Republic has, and will withstand the storms of History. No matter if from war or our own Mistakes.
We are a nation of Hopes.

  1. It is going to take more than a statue to make me have any hope for Amerika. By any chance did this statue overlook the place that slaves were landing from Africa?

  2. Yes the then future site of the 'America" statue is eight blocks from the Wall Street landing where Slave Ships berthed. Our Original Sins Genocide of the Natives Peoples, and Black Slavery are not noted anywhere at the Customs House.

But they wouldn't be given when it was built.

Our America has evolved on. Just in my lifetime changes even I thought were unimaginable have been fought for, and established. Our current darkness as I've posted is the constant push back to any humane change.

Obama said yesterday "...Progress is not a straight line. For every two steps forward here there is an inevitable one step back."

Though as you read below in my posts about being in a state of unending trauma as a Black person here. I have not forsaken hope.

    I refuse to.

If my great grandmother or even grandmother were to see, and live where we are now they'd have thought we'd come to the Jubilee.

    To Freedom.

It all depends on what you've experienced. Taking the very long view we're going where we should. However yeah living in the moment is,...Shit.
