Thinking about Z's advice in an earlier post, I wonder where he would consider moving to escape the apocalypse that is staring us in the face? I have friends who moved to places like Thailand and India but they have long since lost their luster according to them. The Philippines imploded over 30 years ago and is as bad or even worse than most places today. Maybe places like Switzerland or Denmark or Iceland look good, but I doubt I could afford to live there. I hear that India has a few spots left but I don't know exactly what they are. Any help Z?
OK, if you're on a fixed income like a pension or Social Security, you want a place with the lowest cost of living and an agreable quality of life. Speaking for myself, in those circumstances I would pick Mexico. There are other possibilities, like Panama and Costa Rica, but that's a good one.
Go to a website called numbeo(dot)com. It has a search field that allows you to compare the cost of living of your own country with that of other countries around the world, and many cities within them as well. (You can also check out the comparative cost of living in various cities around the United States.)
Last I looked, the cost of living in Mexico is 48 percent that of the United States. So a dollar in Mexico has the buying power of $2.08 in the United States. This is an average; if you live in NYC or some other expensive locale, the ratio will be even more to your advantage.
You want to check out the immigration laws for any country and see what will be required of you. The best place to start is a consular or embassy website for the country in question.
In Europe, the south is more affordable than the north: Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece. The north is rich and therefore costly; an American trying to live in Switzerland on social security would be a pauper. And anyway, they wouldn't let you. An American of limited means can't just waltz into the Eurozone and take advantage of their social welfare system; only refugees from Africa or the Middle East are permitted to do that.
Some expats seem to be happy in Asia, but personally it's not for me. Still, many parts of southeast Asia are inexpensive and are said to have some positive attributes.
I think we can forget about finding a BL paradise like the Philippines used to be. Those days are long gone. However, once you get putside the English-speaking world, I think you'll find the level of paranoia and hatred significantly diminished.
That goes for more than BL. We don't realize the extent to which the society we live in is saturated in hate. The countries I've mentioned have cultures that are generally less toxic than ours.

One more resource to check out online: expat websites. For any given country, there are expats living there now, and somd of them post online about their experiences. Some do videos on youtube, and others have chat forums. It might be a good idea to check them out.
P.S. - I know next to nothing about India, so I can't help you there. The places with a rep are Goa (a beach area that used to attract lots of hippies back in the day) and Kerala. Maybe there's some spot there where you could be pretty happy; but this is more than I can say.
Being a breath from 70, and having had several near extinction level events in the last few years. As I said before fleeing is no longer an option for me.
Though I do recommend it for any, and all of the usual suspects.
There are interment camps in your future. That line was crossed last year when they started putting Brown children in cages,...children. So I'd listen to Z, and Anon up there, and at least consider their advice.
New Zealand looks good,...for now.
Things change. There are nationalist movements all over the West. It only takes one bad election to put you behind the wire. 2016 showed us that. The last time America was the world's last refuge. Today there's no sure thing anymore.
I have friends,...just regular folks that are buying, and learning how to use fire arms for self protection. Neo-Nazi, and like minded individuals, and gangs are emboldened want, and are spilling blood.
So I was not surprised that my until now kindly pacifist friends are arming. They live far in the country, and have hostile neighbors. I met some them scary folks when I visited a few years back.
I went to the market and was coldly stared at by red caps.
Another bunch who have the perfect solution to all the problems in the world. It'll fly about as well as a hoverbike that runs on flubber.
