My friends just kept getting sick. Some went back to their home towns. New York was a refuge for many, but in the end people all go home when it's time. I really don't know why I'm here. I shouldn't be. It was not a matter of being overtly careless. It could happen to anyone no matter what. It was just there. Like bullets flying about in war. I'm always amazed at what one can become used to. Just the constant loss of close friends acquaintances even folks we downright didn't like. Plagues don't care they just take. While in it we didn't think of what it would be like what the cost would ultimately be with so many gone. It was slow, and it's aftermath was slow. Rather like climate change one day you just look up, and your world is empty.
