Harlem USA has a flag, and the above is it.
The Red Black, and Green stripes on the Harlem USA flag represents
The Blood shed the People, and the Earth.
The canton the square on the hoist side is the original emblem of the original Haarlem in the Netherlands.

Unlike the Pan African flag where the red and green stripes are separated by a black stripe (which is to me visually very satisfying) in this Harlem flag the complementary colors are in direct contact. It reminds me of some paintings I once saw by Donald Judd, which make use of the complementary colors.
I rather the Harlem flag to the Pan Africa one for the same reasons as you. Totems matter.
